Ding set for McManus clash
Share:

Ding Junhui is up against Alan McManus in the second round of the China Championship in Guangzhou on Friday. Ding overcame Alfie Burden to secure his spot in the last 32 but he had to come from behind to secure his victory. Burden began their first round tie with a century but the Ding took control and finished with an impressive 128 break of his own. Ding, the Chinese number one and world number four, is seeking a first ranking title victory since the 2013/14 season, when he won the German Masters, Indian Open, International Championship and China Open.

Despite his lack of titles Ding still enjoyed an impressive campaign last season as he reached the semi-finals of the World Championship. The 30-year-old will not take world number 29 McManus for granted but Ding can take comfort from the fact he leads the head-to-head 4-1 between the two. The 12-time ranking event winner also claimed a 17-11 victory over the Scot in Sheffield in 2016 in their most recent meeting, during Ding’s run to the final at the Crucible.

McManus overcame Englishman Elliot Slessor in his opener to reach the last 32. The Scot claimed a hard fought 5-3 win but will need to step up his game if he is to stun Ding on Friday. Ding is 1/4 to claim the win on Friday and McManus can be backed at 3/1.

Promotion: Ding Junhui, Marco Fu, & Judd Trump all to win @ 11/8 (£100 MAX BET). 18+ only!
