Share:

The stage is now set for World Champion, and defending champion, O’Sullivan as he booked a place in the Shanghai Masters final with a 10-6 win over Neil Robertson.

Ronnie O’Sullivan started his 2019/20 Snooker season underway in a splendid fashion, with a comfortable defeat over Zhang Yi 6-0 in the second round of the Shanghai Masters in just 1hr 32s.

The Rocket was in China to defend his Shanghai Masters title and appears to be in good form and will likely do so.
The ‘Rocket’ made it through to the last four of the tournament after a rousing comeback against Kyren Wilson in the quarter-finals, having trailed 5-1.

O’Sullivan found the journey a little more easier against Robertson, clinching six of the last seven frames to catapult himself to the final of this event for the third consecutive year.

Robertson suffered a significant setback during the first session when he lost a chunk of his cue tip, attempting to pot the yellow but still emerged victorious with a 5-4 advantage.

O’Sullivan, however, proved too hot to handle and wrapped up the match with a typically composed break of 134.

Ronnie O’Sullivan is highly regarded among snooker players, often said to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. He has won the World Championships five times, holds a record seven Masters titles, and also holds the record of seven UK Championships. In his illustrious career, he set a record total of 19 titles in Triple Crown tournaments. O’Sullivan also holds the record of being the youngest ever player ever to win a ranking title and the youngest winner of the UK Championship, which he won at the age of 17.. He is also the youngest ever player to win the The Masters, when he won the tournament in 1995, aged 19. He has won the most ranking title, and has amassed a total prize money of over £10 million in his career.

The 43-year-old Englishman will now face his fellow English Shaun Murphy in the final after the 2005 World Champions beat Mark Allen 10-3 in their semi-final clash.

The final match between Shaun Murphy and Ronnie O’Sullivan promises to be an exciting encounter, as both players are not just experienced, but also evenly matched.
