Murphy sets up Dott showdown
Share:

Shaun Murphy will face Graeme Dott in the quarter-finals of the International Championship after winning a fluctuating battle against Neil Robertson in Daqing.

The Australian had led 5-4 in the last-16 clash only for Murphy to make breaks of 83 and 91 in the last two frames to progress.

Murphy, the 2005 world champion, is attempting to maintain his place in the world’s top-16 players which will secure his spot in the Shanghai Masters.

Graeme Dott could also be competing in Shanghai after he thrashed John Higgins 6-2 in an all-Scottish affair.

Dott is 2.30 to beat Murphy in the last eight while a victory for the Englishman is available at 1.61.

Mark Selby, who won the tournament in 2016 and 2017, produced a stunning comeback from 5-3 down to beat this year’s Crucible semi-finalist David Gilbert 6-5.

Selby faces Gary Wilson, who defeated Welshman Jak Jones 6-3, in the quarter-finals.

Selby beat Ding Junhui 10-1 in the 2016 final before winning a tighter affair against Mark Allen 10-7 12 months later.

Defending champion Allen, who defeated Robertson 10-5 in last year’s final, eased to a 6-2 victory against Ali Carter and is in sublime form having won his first three matches in the tournament 6-1.

The Ulsterman will play China’s number one Ding, who edged past compatriot Liang Wenbo 6-5, in the quarter-finals.

Allen is 1.73 to win the encounter while a victory for Ding can be backed at 2.10.
