Ford faces Selt in Indian Open
Share:

Tom Ford and Matthew Selt face off today in the first round of the rescheduled Indian Open.

The tournament in Kochi was due to take place in September last year but had to be delayed due to floods in the state of Kerala and is now the 15th ranking event of the 2018/19 season. It offers a few players the chance to find a bit of form ahead of the World Championship and Ford has been handed a tough assignment.

The world number 26 is 251.00 to win the World Championship outright but he has made his mark in a Triple Crown event this year as he achieved his best result in a major at the UK Championship.

The 35-year-old had a slow start to the season but then enjoyed a march through to the semi-finals at the Barbican Centre in York, where he went down 6-1 to Ronnie O’Sullivan. Since then he has won four of 10 matches and failed to qualify for the German Masters.

The Leicestershire man has won three of his four previous meetings with Selt but the world number 51 goes into this match-up in good form, having managed four wins in his last seven matches.

Selt is 2.05 to win and Ford is the slight favourite at 1.75, while Ford is 2.30 to win with a -1.5 frame handicap and Selt is 5.50 to win 4-2.
