Bond Progresses after win over Gary Wilson
Share:

Nigel Bond, whose highlight win over the main favourite, Judd Trump still rings in the head of several fans, had one foot out of the UK Championship before forcing a comeback to claim a win.

It was a thrilling encounter between Niguel Bind and Gary Wilson. It was topsy-turvy, to say the least, as both sides pushed ceaselessly for the winner. After four frames in the exciting encounters, both parties were levelled, and none looked the likeliest to come off with the win.

However, the world number 18, Gary Wilson didn’t take so much time to prove that he is one of the topmost echelons of professionals who currently feature in the billiard game. Wilson took the following two frames to make it 4-2. He was running riot and looked set to push Bond into oblivion.

The duo shared the following two frames, one apiece to make it 5-3 before Bond started his magic run. Nigel played the joker, made it 5-4 and made it known that a comeback was still on the list of cards for him.

Bond made it happen! The Englishman completed the comeback with a break of 66, keeping Wilson off the board to win his fourth frame on the bounce as well as ensure victory.

The world number 98 has now sealed his place in the quarter-finals where he is poised to lock horns with Mark Allen.

Elsewhere, Stephen Maguire progressed to the next round at the expense of his opponent, Michael White, who valiantly fought for a place in the quarters.
