Wilson marches on in Romania
Share:

Former world champion Stuart Bingham is in the semi-finals of the Romanian Masters but Kyren Wilson could be the man to watch in Bucharest. Wilson overcame Judd Trump 4-2 in the quarter-finals and is enjoying his best season having risen up to a career-high 12 in the world rankings, despite the fact he has been unable to add to his one ranking title.

The Romanian Masters is a non-ranking event but it does represent a great opportunity to get a victory ahead of the World Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. Wilson, who reached The Masters final earlier this season, comes up against Welshman Ryan Day in a tough tie but one he can win. World number 18 Day claimed two wins over Wilson in the Champions League in January but the latter did win their most recent meeting, claiming a 3-2 success in the same tournament. The other semi-final is a fascinating match-up between 2015 world champion Bingham and two-time runner-up Ali Carter, contesting just his second semi-final of the season. Bingham has won the two most recent meetings but Carter leads the head-to-head 11-3, and dumped out the world number 14 in Sheffield in 2016 when Bingham was the defending champion.

Wilson is 5/2 to win the tournament outright, Bingham is 7/4, Carter is 15/4 and Day is 10/3.
