Eyes on the prize for Judd Trump
Share:

Judd Trump wants to win back-to-back ranking titles for the first time in his career by taking the Dafabet English Open crown this week. ‘The Ace In The Pack’ lost out in last year’s decider to Liang Wenbo and is determined to go one better. Trump arrived in Barnsley on the back of a European Masters success and has no doubts about his goal this week. “I played well in last year’s English Open and fell a little bit short against Liang in the final. To win two tournaments in a row would show that I have improved and that the consistency is there, so that is my next step,” he said.

Trump was forced to work hard in coming from behind to defeat world number 63 Robbie Williams 4-3 in his opener to set up a clash with Mark Joyce in the last 64. The Bristol potter fired two centuries (114 and 143) in a battling win over Williams and then talked about his recent decision to have laser eye surgery in order to make his game the best it can be. “You need to try and find any percentage of improvement you can in snooker,” he said. “For me to take my game to the next level that is what I had to do.” Trump is 3/1 to defeat Joyce 4-0 in Wednesday’s last-64 tie at the Dafabet English Open. The world’s number 46 is 7/2 to win the best-of-seven tussle.
