Bingham 33/1 for world title

Stuart Bingham is 33/1 to regain the World Championship following his title triumph at the English Open.

Bingham was in tears after his 9-7 victory over Mark Davis in Crawley on Sunday – the win coming shortly after his ban for betting on matches came to an end.

The 2015 world champion came from 7-6 down, winning the final three frames to leave Ronnie O’Sullivan’s conqueror having to settle for the runners-up prize in what was the first final of his career at the age of 46.

Bingham is now 33/1 to win the world title next May. He is the same price with Dafabet to claim the forthcoming UK Championship.

He said: “I was driving up with my manager this morning and told him that if I get my hands on the trophy I’ll probably end up crying. There was a lot of emotion and I have proved people wrong. It’s special and no-one can take it off me.

“It was a very even match and I just got among the balls first in the last few frames and scored well. I felt nervous all day, I was trying too hard and couldn’t let myself go. But compared to the pressure of winning the world title, everything else seems easy so I have that experience to fall back on.”

Davis, who called a foul on himself when 5-4 up and leading the 10th frame, admitted the better man had won.

He said: “I’m disappointed. It has taken me 27 years to get to a final, and I wanted to win. If it takes me 27 years to get to another one then there’s something wrong.

“It has been one of the best weeks of my snooker career, to beat Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins in the same week is unbelievable. I ran Stuart close today but he was the better player.”

Davis is a 150/1 shot to win the 2019 world title.
